Wii U Animal Crossing Theme

Ever since I first saw the Animal Crossing Plaza I thought that Wara Wara Plaza was damn-near made for themes.

This is my take of what the Home Menu would look like in said theme. I know the Home Menu is actually the menu that comes up when you press the Home button but I called it that on purpose as this is part of another concept.

If this concept looks a little strange to you it's because I did this one completely in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I'm not at the point where I want to share the actually code though.

Some of the things I still plan on doing:

1. Animate the clouds scrolling slowly.
2. Make the leaves fall. (Currently it's just a still picture. Thus the blurring behind the user icon.)
3. Allow the app list to scroll the way it does on the Wii U.
4. Have the time of day change depending on the current system time.
5. Add some representation of folders.
6. The little optical disc icon.

All the animation feels very necessary to me as I feel it breathes life into the interface and makes it feel like more an experience. That's something I think Nintendo does very well. They go the extra mile and add these little details and I wanted this concept to look like something that you would associate with Nintendo. Something fun and lively.
